How do we learn to trust and heal wounds that allow us to find deeper connections again?
Author, educator, and speaker Kevin Scott Hall offers A Quarter Inch from My Heart, a powerful new book based on his experience of inviting a near stranger and possible Hurricane Katrina survivor, Maurice, to live with him until he "got on his feet."
The just released memoir explores the 2-1/2 year time period that they lived together, learning to trust each other as they worked through their past tragedies.
Kevin ultimately became Maurice's caregiver when he was unexpectedly diagnosed with late-stage AIDS. Their spirituality matured together as Maurice neared the end of his life, and the experience has continued to impact Kevin's life.
A back story is Kevin Hall's own well-publicized brush with violent crime, when he was stabbed on the street in 1994, a story that reverberates throughout the narrative.
Kevin will share with your listeners any or all of the themes in the story: spiritual growth, transforming relationships, overcoming hardship, HIV/AIDS, crime, homelessness, OR the process of writing a memoir (or fiction, as in his previous first book). Kevin has general knowledge of current events, politics, media and entertainment.
Kevin's story is inspiring and he has overcome so much: a victim of violent crime, loss, his own HIV diagnosis, bankruptcy, bullying, rejection as a performing artist.
He teaches writing and speech, but more than that, Kevin gives life lessons in perseverance and determination.
