Patsy Henry, grew up on a farm, but she never had a pet. That is, until her husband surprised her with a real live bunny for Easter.
As she learned how to take care of the bunny, Patsy took lots of photos and made notes about things that happened. She found it such a joy to watch her pet rabbits run and play, and today she shares that joy with others through her children's books.
When she retired in 2008, Patsy found herself with more time to do things she enjoyed. That's when she looked back at her many photos and notes about her pet rabbits.
She realized that she had learned so many things about the bunnies that other people probably did not know about - Things like that bunnies don't have hair when they are born, but they have teeth. She learned that when the time approaches for a bunny to give birth, she pulls her own hair out to make a soft nest for her baby bunnies.
Patsy thought that if she didn't know these things about bunnies, there are others out there who don't either. Writing a book was her way of sharing her newfound rabbit knowledge, and she called her first book "My Hare Line".
Patsy has so many wonderful things to share about her bunnies.
There's nothing she loves talking about more than them.
"My Hare Line" is nonfiction, and it is a series. Patsy includes photos of her real live bunnies to help tell the stories.
Patsy Henry's other books, "My Hare Line Meets the Brown Rabbit" and "My Hare Line and the Dead Pine Tree", are fiction. These are written from the bunnies' perspective.
