Retro Movie Chat with Craig Bishop is a podcast on Blog Talk Radio that discusses various cinema related topics from films before the year 2000.
The show is generally one hour long and has discussed: Specific films (Superman: the Movie, GREASE 2), Films in general (Elivis Presley films and thier impact on society, Universal Studio Horror films) and film related themes (Outdoor drive-in Movie theaters, Film Soundtracks).
Listeners are encouraged to call in, comment on the discussion and ask guest questions. There is also a chatroom available during the show for people to congregate. I promote via Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and various film website forums.
What kinds of guests and experts do you want to interview?
I am interested in Actors, Directors and crew from all decades of the 20th century to discuss thier involvement in film production, how they feel the industry may have changed since they were involved and what they would like to tell fans of whatever films they were a part of. I do not need to have household names, but if they were involved in horror films of the 80's or teen films of the 50's, and have fun stories to tell of their time in the business, then I certainly would love to hear what they have to say!
Audience Details and Size
I began this show in August 2010 and have been building slowly. The size of the LIVE audience is related to the topic but sometimes the downloads take off quickly the next day. At this time I have only about 15 regulars and they are in thier 30's & 40's. Obviously because the content I discuss is vintage film topics, the listeners are going to be slightly mature.
I expect a celebrity guest, even from a forgotten film, would bring in more listeners over the course of time. My largest audiences have been for topics like JAMES BOND FILMS, UNIVERSAL STUDIO HORROR FILMS (about 20 live listeners) and the downloads from the past few months for these topics have averaged about 300.
