An ideal guest for this particular talk show would be someone who's been through a lot of ups and downs in the standup comedy world and knows how to tell stories about their experiences.

Not looking for guests to perform the comedy routines themselves, so don't worry too much about being funny. And there's no need to have been successful. In fact, people who couldn't make it might have some of the best stories about their experiences in standup life.

So, What's Your Story?
Show Description: *

"So What's Your Story" is a live radio talk show on KPFT 90.1 FM in Houston, Texas and has been running for over twelve years, since 2008. We are also livestreamed online and we're expanding into podcasts, so our shows are featured in all three formats. Our show is in audio format only with no video, so guests need not worry about their appearance. We are public radio so we usually don't pay our guests, but we will gladly promote any books, websites, upcoming events, worthy causes, etc.

Ordinarily we air live shows in our studio, but we're in lockdown mode so we are putting together shows from our own homes using Zoom interviews, etc. So the segments could be taped anytime within the next month or so, at the guest's convenience and from the comfort of their own home.

The format of our show is a little different from other radio talk shows in that we do not strictly interview our guests throughout their segment. Instead, we "give them the stage" to tell stories uninterrupted, similar to stories told on the Moth Radio Hour on National Public Radio or in TED Talks. Guests' stories must be relevant to the night's theme, which for this particular episode will be the life of a standup comedian. Then of course the host engages the guests in some intermittent discussion between stories.

Length of guest time depends on number of guests and for this show we're looking to have probably three guests given 15-20 minutes air time each. This includes stories and discussion. Or we could possibly have two guests and give them 25-30 minutes each. We prefer stories to be about 4-6 minutes each instead of one long story (due to people's short attention spans these days). So anywhere from 2 to 6 stories per guests are the norm, once again depending on the number of guests. The regular radio restrictions apply--no extreme profanity, no inappropriate remarks regarding race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.
